Itinerary of the 2-Day tour to Machu Picchu

Day 1: Cusco – Aguas Calientes

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 in the morning and transfer you to the San Pedro train station in Cusco so that you can board the train to Aguas Calientes. The train ride to Aguas Calientes takes approximately 4.5 hours, traveling from the heights of Cusco to the cloud forest where Machu Picchu is located.

During the excursion, you will have the opportunity to take in the breathtaking panoramas of the city of Cusco, Pampas de Anta, Pomatales Canyon, and the Urubamba River as it winds its way to Aguas Calientes (Also called Machu Picchu Pueblo). After arriving in Aguas Calientes at around 12:20 pm, you will check into your hotel and have the afternoon at your leisure in the town.

In Aguas Calientes, you will have the opportunity to tour the town or go to the hot springs. In addition to this, your tour guide will be able to lead you on further walks to the butterfly station or the Mandor gardens.

Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco

After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your guide to get on the first bus to Machu Picchu and enter the citadel. Your professional guide will take you on a 3–4-hour tour and show you the best parts of this legendary lost city surrounded by beautiful mountains.

You’ll have some free time after the tour to hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (optional-not included). Next, you’ll take the bus back to Aguas Calientes to eat lunch, look around the city, and shop. In the late afternoon, take the Vistadome Panoramic train for 1.5 hours to Ollantaytambo, and then a private van to Cusco. Between 7:30 and 8:30 pm, you should be back at your hotel in Cusco.
