Itinerary – Machu Picchu Tour with Vistadome Train

Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 5:30 am and transfer you to Ollantaytambo to board the Vistadome panoramic train to Aguas Calientes. The train ride takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, traveling from the highlands of Ollantaytambo into the cloud forest, following the Urubamba River and experiencing a fast and beautiful change in scenery.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, your tour guide will give you some free time for coffee or snacks. Then you will board the bus for a 30-minute scenic ride up to Machu Picchu. Once at the citadel and after passing the checkpoint, you will begin a 3–4 hour guided tour with your English-speaking guide, exploring the most important areas and learning about Inca history and the latest theories about Machu Picchu.

After the guided tour, you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) and have time to explore the town and shop for souvenirs. In the afternoon, you will take the Vistadome panoramic train back to Ollantaytambo and then a bus back to Cusco. The estimated arrival time at your hotel is around 8:00 pm.

The Vistadome panoramic train is the only train that allows you to move between carriages and has an observatory lounge where your tour guide can point out landscapes and points of interest along the way. Onboard you will enjoy live shows and traditional music.
