Why Choose TreXperience

At Active Trekking we believe adventure should be good for everyone: for you, for local people, and for the mountains we call home. On every tour we work to reduce our impact, travel in small groups, and support fair trade tourism. We recycle where possible, avoid polluting rivers and trails, hire local staff, and pay fair, transparent wages.

When you hike with us, you are not just visiting Peru – you are helping to protect it and support the families who live here.

Fair treatment for our porters

The people behind every great trek

Our porters are the heart of every hike. They carry the gear, set up camp, and still welcome you with a smile at the end of a long day. We treat them with the same care we give our guests, with respect, dignity, and real opportunities to improve their lives.

  • Comfortable homestays in Cusco and Ollantaytambo when they travel to work.
  • Three complete meals a day on the trek, plus safe drinking water and coca leaves.
  • Quality mountain gear: warm clothing, boots, backpacks, sleeping bags, and pads.
  • Some of the best wages in the region for porters and field staff.

When you choose Active Trekking, you help us keep this standard of care and fair trade alive on the Inca Trail and beyond.

Sustainable adventures in the Andes

Travel that gives back

Many of our team members grew up in the Andean communities you visit. For us, sustainable tourism is personal. We work with local families, use locally owned services where possible, and choose suppliers who share our values. Our goal is simple: every trek should bring more benefits than problems to the people and places we visit.

We design routes and experiences that respect local culture, protect nature, and create steady work for guides, porters, drivers, cooks, and small businesses in the Sacred Valley and beyond.

Safety and high‑quality equipment

Your safety first

Your safety is our number one priority. All our guides are trained in first aid and high‑mountain rescue and have real experience dealing with altitude and mountain conditions. On every trek we carry a complete first aid kit and emergency oxygen.

If you ever feel unwell or cannot continue, your guide will calmly arrange the safest way down and stay with you until you are in good hands with a doctor. When you feel better, we help you still visit Machu Picchu, usually by train, so you do not miss the highlight of your trip.

Gear you can rely on

Good equipment makes a big difference in the mountains. We use strong four‑season tents, warm sleeping systems, and well‑organized kitchen and dining tents so you can rest well and enjoy camp. When needed, we can provide extra items like sleeping bags, mats, and rain covers to make your journey more comfortable.

Why travelers choose Active Trekking

Top‑rated local operator

Our guests regularly rate us among the best trekking companies in Peru on platforms such as Tripadvisor, TourRadar, Google, and Facebook. Behind every review there is a full team working hard: office staff, guides, chefs, and porters who care about every detail.

Easy bookings and clear prices

We keep things simple. You can book with a credit card, PayPal, or cash in Cusco, with no extra booking fees added by us. Prices are clear from the start, so you know exactly what is included and what is not.

Small groups and guaranteed departures

We only need two travelers to confirm a departure. Once your tour is confirmed, we will not cancel it because the group is small. This lets you plan with confidence and enjoy a more personal experience on the trail.

Unique routes and amazing food

We do not copy other itineraries. Every Active Trekking route is planned to avoid the biggest crowds and add special, local touches. On the Inca Trail and our alternative treks you can enjoy views from quieter campsites, traditional food experiences like Pachamanca, and comfortable panoramic train rides.

Our mountain chefs prepare fresh, generous meals with local ingredients, even at high altitude. We happily adapt menus for vegetarians, vegans, and other dietary needs at no extra cost when you tell us in advance.

Practical support while you travel

We offer free luggage storage in Cusco so you can leave what you do not need for the trek. We provide a duffle bag for your hiking gear and keep the rest safe at our office until you return. Your guide will explain all of this in detail at the pre‑trek briefing the day before your departure.

We love Pachamama

For us, the mountains are more than a backdrop – they are home. On every trek we clean our campsites, pick up trash, and follow “leave no trace” principles. Our guides will invite you to do the same, so together we can keep the Andes clean and wild for the next generation of travelers and local families.

If you want an adventure that feels exciting, honest, and respectful, we would be honored to hike with you in Peru.
